Hi All
I have had these glass teeth for about 10 years or so. I have always wounderd if they were old production glass or new. The detail on them is great and the one in the middle is very well worn. Any info or comments would be apprceated.
Thanks
Wayne

Hi Wayne,

They look like old glass teeth beads to me. Very nice.

Thanks for showing these.

how big are these teeth? Drilled tooth ornaments were excavated from some of the earliest Maori settlements in New Zealand (Wairau Bar). So we know that teeth were in fashion several centuries ago. Your glass examples may fetch a good price in Auckland where the old fashions live on...

These pendants represent lions' teeth, so they are gigantic compared to a dog's tooth.

Probably Early 20th C.

Hi Wayne,

These imitations in molded glass of lions' teeth are probably Bohemian/Czech, and were made in the early 20th C. I know them from Central African necklaces/assemblages that come out of Zaire (often combined with chevron beads and actual lions' teeth), though I expect they probably had a wider distribution.

Locally-carved bone imitations also appear in the marketplace occasionally too. I expect these are more recent. I don't know of any new molded glass reproductions to speak of.

Thanks Jamey
These were originally part of a chevron necklace with 6 layer blues. I purchased the strand for the teeth though because I had never seen them in glass before. I had several of the real teeth so I was fascinated by these.
