Hi Kika,

If this bead is right, it is worth a fortune! Please make a better image.

The beads you have previously posted have been nice. This is surprising.

Perhaps it is the quality of the image; it seems to be painted ceramic to me.

I love seeing the beautiful beads from your collection and hope to see more.

Just Fred

Hi Frederick,
There are two new pics which are better, I hope! and it's Monday, it's allowed, no?? !!
It was too later, last week when I made the others!
No, the bead is not painted ceramic, it's afghanistan or Iran islamic bead. You can see on these new pics, the hole with the beads's design into it.
Good afternoon..

Dear Kika,

Is it devitrified glass which has restoration?

The teal blue band around the middle and rims
are suspected to have been painted in all images.

Even some of the red lines seem enhanced by paint.
~With an orange glaze to pull everything together.

Thank you,
Fred

Hi Frederick,
your impressions are very interesting. But I have to specify some points: It is me who I improved the colors with the computer to reveal them better because the bead is rather mat altogether and not very clear. I will send back the pic without improvement. This bead is very difficult to photograph! The strip on the top is not teal blue but mat green like in the early beads: it goes into the hole like all the other colors: red and clear (perhaps a little yellow) strips when I look at it with the stereomicroscope.
On this other pic, you can see the green strip in the hole, but more profoundly in the hole, I can see the different stripes. It's very interesting: I have also seen with a magnifying glass and a lamp that the green color is translucent profoundly into the hole. the white/yellow glass is more worn out than the red strips. the other strips are green and it is a strip at the equator which is, at the end, not exactly in front of the other side.
I don't know if my english is very clear!!!
best regards

Dear Kika,

I understand the temptations with enhancement opportunities on the computer.

How long and where have you been collecting? Please show more from your collection.

I found it to a trader, who sold all the new beads for African markets and I lived in Cameroun where he also came. He travelled around the world, and he bought the modern beads (chevrons, and all beads) and he also had some beautiful ancient beads for the collectors. He was Hausa and a formidable trader!! it was so difficult to haggle with him for days to buy some beads, days during which I did not sleep or I dreamed about the gorgeous necklaces where I had to choose only some beads. I could not always buy them because they were already very expensive, but I saw wonderful islamic and pre-islamic necklaces of Middle West (Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran). It was a tearing not to be able to take them all!!
