In the upper left is a new "fake" dzi bead. It's made by decorating agate stone with heat and chemicals...the big metal "shield" looks interesting, I can't tell what the design is.

Congratulations on your finds, Lulu, I didn't get my first African trade bead until I was about 14! We need to encourage new interest in our area of collectibles in order to "keep the love alive"! Keep up the hunt, always paw to the very bottom of the goody boxes at the sales, and always get down to check out the bottom shelf of any display case! Over time, you won't be sorry!

A hodge podge ? Is that it's real name it's funny I wrote it down in my book. It cost 10 pence . There is something inside the shield it is a box it's made of copper it has a thing inside a buda is inside a silv er circle that can go on a necklace and as well it has a cloth and inside the cloth there is another buda it's a golden colour it's arm is broken my mum told me the names but I didn't write them down and now I don't know them anymore. It's from tibet . I don't like green things very much so I might not Wear the bangles goodbye

Hematite, shell...

tthe white and pink beads are shell chips

The dark gray beads with the silver clasp could be hematite (are they very heavy and cold?), or they could be plastic pearls, or they could be glass pearls...or maybe they're "real" pearls dyed black.
They are strung in the manner of pearls, with french wire protecting the cord near the clasp (which is a nice locking clasp), and knots between beads.
If you rub a "real" pearl (one grown in an oyster) against one of your front teeth, it will feel gritty; glass or plastic or stone will feel smooth.

Your green bangles might be bakelite (or some other plastic) or they could be dyed stone. Stone would feel heavy and cold - it you touch stone against your neck, it will make you shiver.

Hello beadiste

The Green bangles are very heavy one is 65g and one is 61g
they are cold , they are a bit small my mum can't fit her hand through them. You can't even make a cut with a sharp knife and if you try to poke a hot pin in them you can't . They sound like glass when they knoc together they sound like music a bit like wind chimes I think there is one or 2 bubbles in one of them I think .
y beads they are black ones I think the white cover was a bad place to take a photo they are not grey . They are not freezing cold but they are cold and heavy the weight is 65g my brother max said if you have some beads that cost you a lot of money you could tie a not in the string so you don't lose all the beads if they broke, but I think they might have a mum who says they will ALL be sucked up with the hoov er if they left are on the floor and I bet thats why people tie a not in the string because they have a mum like mine . My yellow beads smell nice but a bit funny if you put a lighted match near them , but my green beads are plastic and they catch fire then your mum really goes mad I'm not allowed to do that

Dyed grey pearls?

Did you do the "Tooth test" to see if the beads feel a bit gritty?

And you are correct, knots are tied between valuable beads such a pearls to keep them from scattering all over the floor if the string breaks.

The knots also protect the beads from grinding against each other - pearls can be damaged if they're strung tightly together without knots.

Can it be any tooth ? I count do the test because my front tooth are missing I swelled swallowed 1 of my baby ones and my big teeth are coming but only a little bit has
come . Today I got some beads made out of shell and under one shell there is 2. Little pearls only half made pearls like twins. I got a big bag but it was rubbish plastic beads except for some wood beads they are black tiny round and square shapes and plain but I don't have any till now and I found a tooth off an animal or a claw off a crocodile it feels like teeth when I tap it on my teeth
Bye

The eggs, the bangles...

Hi Lulu,
The eggs look like Chinese work to me - hand painted serpentine or alabaster (both soft stone).
The bangles look like glass colored to imitate stone. I'd wear them and enjoy them, but just one at a time, so that they won't bang together and increase the chance of breakage.
