Hello all! As always I have been surfing the web in the quest for bead knowledge.

I came across this seller and it got me wondering what the differences are between Indian furnace wound glass beads and old 'peking glass' beads? I have attached a link to a seller and a particular bead I would be interested in any opinions on.

If this bead is indeed 'peking glass,' what would be some of the distinguishing differences between Indian made furnace wound glass and these old peking glass beads. Are they both made using just a nearly identical technique or ??

Any thoughts appreciated! -W

An Old Transparent White Quartz Chinese Peking Glass bead

Can't be both quartz and glass!!

If you want to learn more about the beads of this area read Asia's Maritime Bead Trade by Peter Francis Jr. It is quite complete when it comes to Indo Pacific beads.

All my best .... Danny
