Thanks for sharing this. I will be ordering a copy of the book.
I have two Iroquois beaded items like this - one a pocket with flap and the second one a purse with trade silver clasp/chain and beaded on both sides.

Posted on Beads L by Karlis Karklins:

2012 International Iroquois Beadwork Conference

September 21, 22, 23

Iroquois Indian Museum
Howes Cave, New York

You are invited to a weekend of Iroquois beadwork activities.

There will be presentations on Iroquois beadwork, a beadwork competition, silent auction, and sales tables offering new and old beadwork, beads, and related publications, as well as a trip to the Fenimore Art Museum in Cooperstown on Saturday and a workshop by Sam Thomas on making a raised beadwork bird-medallion necklace on Sunday, plus much more.

Hope to see you there. The conference is a small and friendly one so if you like beadwork, come on down for a fun weekend!

For more information and to register go to:

(I see the site below states registration deadline as 9/8, but was just posted today on Beads L on 9/10, so I am hoping they are somewhat flexible and won't turn away the late and interested.)
