When I bought the three largest beads -not the mosaic ones- on Portobello Road about fifteen years ago: the seller said: "These are not beads -they are monsters." And he had many more. Would that I added two oxblood red ones -of nearly equal size. But they did not "speak to me" and therefore seemed too expensive. So, I finally settled on these three which I felt I could not live without because of the grain. And, I knew how difficult it would be to use and/or resell them at the time.
The pair of red ones had nearly no visible grain -if I recall correctly- sold to a well known American bead dealer who was shopping with me. And he tried to resell them for several years at a price which may seem inexpensive by today's standards.
My largest little monster is 35mm.
Like Lady Gaga says: "Welcome home, little monsters."
