I'm working on a project and went to grab a strand of the smaller brown glass snake beads. Imagine my surprise to discover I only had a couple strands of the larger size, and NONE in the smaller size.

And the smaller sizes are almost impossible to find.

I broke down and bought a couple strands online at twice the price they used to be, but it got me wondering....

I've seen black ones, turquoise ones, red, yellow, teal, white...but never brown. I did find someone on Etsy selling the vintage ones in 'chocolate brown', but they are obviously the newer ones.

Just curious if anyone has any idea why brown, so prevalent in other bead styles (sliced prossers, ovals, rounds, etc.), would be so unusual in small snake beads?

We don't see them very often from the African traders we deal with. The most common are blue and red/coral color. I have 1 strand with some brown on it, they are 9 mm,

Not sure why they are so rare though.

Hope we are talking about the same beads!

I need the smaller sizes, but I so appreciate you alerting me to these!

I've enjoyed your website for years, thank you for reminding me to check there in the future. :^)

What size are you looking for? 5-6mm diameter? I can keep an eye out the next time I am with a trader.
