collection of loose beads some early plastics from 1920s choker necklaces mostly carved rounds or ovals decorated with combinations of incised patterns created with rotating cutting tools- some were coloured but are faded, some appear to have absorbed colour or got stained...

The beads in the photo are currently for sale on Etsy: https://www.etsy.com/listing/205997522/victorian-tagua-beads-one-pair?ref=sr_gallery_1&ga_search_query=Victorian+Tagua+Beads&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_type=all. They're identified as tagua nut or vegetable ivory from the 1910s.

yes those ones are not particularly rare, i call the type "rosary beads" as often found in that context- the material may be Buri nut as its not as pale as Tagua or Kukui nut. i believe Buri nut is or was a bead material in Indonesia and Phillippines, and sometimes stained on the surface prior to decorative carving in other colours too... would welcome more specific knowledge or examples in context.

I always wanted to post these beads and ask you what they are..such a coincidence they are subject of a post already, very nice to see :)

( I strung them on a tiny wire btw, they were strung on a breaking cord, don't remember exact details, have had them for a few years now I guess)
