genuine amber beads which may have started as a graduated strand? Whoo-hoo, 12 pounds of fun! :)
Yep Joyce, and they are BIG money right now to the Asian market! I can count 43 of them that are visible in the picture, probably a few more are buried underneath, & that constitutes a full strand. Depending on size and weight, we're talking $2,000 and up. The rest of the beads are a mix of good vintage to some new junk... old black coral, some Venetians, Japanese, some vintage trade beads in the other pictures, lots of early 1900s glass, a few nice repairable Czech & German jewelry pieces... an entire day of blissful sorting. :)
Oh yes, this has been going on for a few years...amber slowed way down in Tucson this year, but the internet is still strong, I guess.....the most in demand was big, big, ethnic opaque butterscotch....one year ago I sold one bead for 500.00 back to the same dealer friend that I bought it from almost 15 years ago for 100.00. Wish I could have invested BIG time back then....pays much better than $ in the bank making zero interest.
Congrats!
