Check out the annual Bead Bazaar of the Northern California Bead Society - this weekend - Saturday March 21, 10AM - 6 PM and Sunday, March 22, 10 AM - 4 PM.

A new location for the show - Craneway Pavilion in Richmond. The venue is spacious, lit by the natural light flowing through giant banks of windows with spectacular views of the San Francisco Bay. I don't think we'll have to use any of the lamps we brought! The picture shows the venue prior to the show set-up.

But, who's looking out windows when there are about 66 booths to visit? The vendor list can be viewed using the link below.

Fred (aka Frederick II) and I set up this afternoon and are looking forward to seeing you there!

Was pleasantly surprised to see John Rizzi on the vendor list after a few years....he's an old Sonoma county bead friend, and super glass artist, having learned from some of the greats of the lampwork community (like Loren Stump)......and look what I found on his blog...he's figured out a torch technique to make chevrons.......Kevin O'Grady discovered his own way to do chevrons as well.....Anyway, I hope to see at least one Rizzi chevron tomorrow! Go John!

Neat new venue right on the historic Pt. Richmond waterfront, just yards across the water from the World War 2 Victory ship, The Red Oak Victory.
Was great of course to see bead friends and it's always neat to visit the town where we lived during the toddlerhood of our son. Colin learned how to ride a scooter, then a bike, less than 2 miles from today's bead show!

Anyway, getting back to John's chevrons. They are scorching, high quality beads! And there are purple ones, too. My eye cannot tell the difference in technique between his and the traditional drawn ones. He's using an optic mold and doing 5 layers at this time. I told him I'd have to purchase once he starts doing Pink! I do believe John Rizzi is creating a new page in chevron evolution.

Joyce,

It was so nice to see you yesterday and you made my day talking chevron beads lol my friends are so tired of hearing me go on and on about them.

I am so glad you liked them I will have to put pink into my mix.

Hope to see you soon,

John

:) Great to see you too! If they don't wanna hear about chevrons, they just don't "get it"! :)
