Every now and then the fatal fascination of these things lures one into the tiger trap, doesn't it?
The other day I was eyeing my little collection of monster beads with chagrin ["What was I thinking?!"], decided maybe I'd get some thick squares of acrylic, epoxy the darned beads to the squares, and call them bud vases.
Short of unloading them on Shaquille O'neal, that is.
Needless to say, I think your bead is tres cool. If I'd turned out something like that in bronze casting class, I'd have felt pretty smug.
You're so right...I was definitely lured by it's size & I don't know why! :) :) But thank you for allowing me to feel, well, if not good, then ok about it again. I'm happy I didn't spend a chunk, & will try to be creative with how to use around the house. Perhaps as a pull to our ceiling fans? thanks again!
Fifteen year years ago there were two African traders selling strands of these large brass beads at the Bead Bazaar of the Bead Society of Greater Washington D.C.. I remember the price being on the expensive side.
I showed this to Gerry, my better half, who thought it would make an attractive base for a small lamp. Some one would have to make a nice wooden or metal support with a tube running up the middle for the power cord and bulb fixture to complete the project.
Please tell Gerry thank you! And it perhaps is something I could actually do on my own. I'll definitely send a photo if I attempt & complete. Thanks so very much for the idea...It would work so well in my home as well. & now that I'm thinking about this, I actually have a great little end table that is round, marble topped with a small hole in the center as I believe it probably had a lamp or wires that must have run through it at some time. Perhaps I could work with that. yay..thank you! Lynne
