Joy preceeds her gift to me with an image posted herein. This carving depicts three fish. But it is reminiscent of a snake...

Certainly, it is interesting. And I am looking forward to receiving it.

"Joy to the World!"

Make a post when you've received the snake/fish object of adornment and let us know if you can shed light on the mystery of what it is. This was in a box of asian carvings such as netsuke, enro and snuff bottles left to me by my grandmother. It appears to have adorned some sort of tool or walking stick perhaps?

Drawing Fred's name was quite daunting - what can you send to the man who has everything and knows everything? A mystery to solve, perhaps…

Peace, Love, Beads,
Joy

Dear Joy,

I am blushing with embarrassment; I feel I have a small collection -just a few nice things. And I am very grateful. And I know very little about beads; after all, little is certain about the history of beads. There is much to learn and I do not pretend to be a scholar. But thank you just the same.

Your package has arrived at my mailing address. But we are having a terrible storm in California named "Pineapple Express." So, I have decided to stay home today. This weather reminds me of the monsoon season in Thailand -warm weather and flooding.

What I really want for Christmas is for everybody to post an image of their BCN Bead Santa present. Although I truly believe it is the process -not the product. The experience of deciding what to give makes our gift exchange interesting for me.

Aloha,

Frederick
