Found these in a basket of "estate beads" - a collection of a long-time bead collector - at the Bay Area Bead Extravaganza show in Oakland, CA yesterday.

Any idea what kind of nut? I'm referring to the beads of course, not to the person who bought them...

This may be old news but after I got the name of the nut (seed) from Paula, I found this neat web site which has a 141 page exposition on botanical beads of the world. A great reference!
