Cloisonne made with twisted wires, in the Russian method.

Online auctions and listings are full of Chinese cloisonne beads that are claimed to date from c1900, but so far the evidence seems to be that only twisted wired cloisonne beads date this far back.

Aren't the connectors in this necklace neat?

Chris,

Hopefully somebody in China will salvage them for their historical value.
I have held these in my hands many times and I eventually decided against them.
They are refined but muddy looking; magnification is necessary to see how beautiful they are.
It is impossible to appreciate how beautiful they are because they are so tarnished.
I would be afraid to destroy their patina; owning them is like coveting a secret.

Just Fred
