Welcome to the forum Cambrian,
If I were shopping for beads in New York City,
I would visit the antiquities dealers on and around
Madison Avenue, near the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Did you buy a few of your beads in China? Beijing?
Please post more images of beads from your collection.
Just Fred
thanks friend
ok i will keep my eyes around madison avenue
my hotel is around hell's kitchen so i will visit the antiques garage weekend market anyway.
and yes i have bought quite a lot chinese ancient beads from China, will do posting for sure
cheers
Just in case you did not know: the Antiques garage is closed. Some of the vendors have moved to an outdoor location (where there already was a small market before)others have not moved there. You can find more info on their website.
And: Cool beads!
Surprised that you say the light blue beads with the eyes are also Warron Stated Beads. I would have thought they were Phoenician?
ohhhh
thanks very much! by they way is any weekend market still in new york?
and yes the light blue one is a typical chinese Glass bead, which usually found from North China.
cheers
Hi & welcome. So many of the great markets have shut down completely although there were a few remaining in the same area (West 20s-40s), although I've not been there this year yet, so not certain. However, there are some great ones in Brooklyn (Brooklyn Flea) although I believe this has moved as well, so best you Google it. I used to sell at both (I have a 30 year collection of antique ethnic jewelry & beads), but have not done so in the past few years. But you should be able to find a few in NYC & Brooklyn. Good luck! lynne
