Yes, I know these are japanese. I have some in my bead stash from when I was collecting these in the early 70's. I still have some in my stash.

I also have been under the impression that these are Japanese from the later half of the 1900's sometime from the 1950's-1980's.
Don't know much more than that. I have had these since the early 1990's.

When I was in Japan this spring, I bought several Japanese bead books. I can't understand any of the writing, but pictures tell a thousand words. They help me see which beads are indeed Japanes, and these certainly are. I think it is fascinating how some of them look like Venetian beads, but when you look again, there are these subtle but quite clear differences.
