This summer I will be heading for Jablonec again.
I will finish up gathering information for book number 3. Book number 2 on Beads from Tucson is delayed for a few more weeks because of technical stuff. The file has become too large for my computer to edit......

I have just been given permission to visit the depository of the bead and glass museum again. Last time I mostly looked into sample cards of prosser beads. This time I will ask them to gather sample cards from the type of beads that were made for a specific period, like Egyptian revival beads, or for a specific culture/group such as Islamic beads and such.

Now that I have the chance to go there again, I was wondering if there is anything specific that any of you would like me to look into. Any specific interest or question that could be solved by having a look at Czech sample cards? If so, I will do my best to have a look at that too.

Looking forward to it!

Hi Floor

Czech sample cards which have Venetian logos/trademarks on them? Any information on this kind of thing might be useful. This seems to have occurred.

Cheers
Carole

PS We are still relishing the great time we had in Amsterdam and meeting up with you. How's the photography going? LOL

Would be interesting indeed, to find some of those. I'll try.
I had a great time meeting up als well.
Struggling with the pictures. Do not seem to be able to get the colours right with my new set-up. Awaiting the return of my partner Peter. He is a professional photographer and currently in New York. He is going to help me out.
Would be cool to get to see samplecards with some of your great examples on them.....

It seems a mystery as to what industry made this glass which is highly coveted today. I've not heard of any documented history. It was made in faceted beads, cabachons, etc...I love it's blue-caramel color-changing quality.

Thanks Floor! And of course, please document whatever you can on Egyptian revival.

Good idea!
I know on of Jargstorff's books discusses saphiret, but not with a lot of detail.
I will ask them if they have any there and what they can tell me about it.
Should be interesting.

It is a great treat indeed to be so close to Jablonec, and am very much looking forward to visiting again. A cheap easyjet flight, and a cheap rented appartment, cheap food and it is almost cheaper than staying at home.

Anyone going to the area can contact me and I will be happy to give tips on where to go. And anyone in Jablonec in the second half of july: do come along on my bead hunt!

Hi Floor,
Recently received and catalogued in our Bead Society of Greater Washington's lending library! Poor IPod photo during a lecture but I wanted you to see it. Wish that I could join your dig. Have fun!

I may have some time during my trip to Germany and Switzerland in August (first 3 weeks). Please tell me more about Jablonec. Can one buy beads there?
