I am in the final stage of my book on Beads from Tucson. It's main focus is on the people that all together make up the Tucson shows. From the jewelry designer to the shuttle bus driver, and from the bead collector to the tamales seller.

Thought I'd show you some of these people that may just look familiar to you. And...since it is Sunday, why not include your own picturs of people from the bead collecting community?

First: Paul Johnson and Phil Fischman
(I am not very good with screennames, sorry)

At the time this photo was taken, in 2012, I was shocked when a random visit to my doctor revealed I weighed 196 pounds. (My normal weight is 175.) I was shocked because the idea that I would get up to nearly 200 pounds was unthinkable.

So this is a photo of fat-Jamey.

In the Summer I spent three weeks in Europe, mainly France and Spain. It was hot, and I walked eveywhere, wearing a leather jacket. I sweated a lot and ate little. I lost fifteen pounds. Upon my return home I lost another ten pounds—getting back to my normal weight.

This past week I weighed myself—and I'm up to 185. So it's time to stop the midnight snacks and shed some mass. I'll be 175 again in no time....

Is there a possibility there is a little mixup? Russ and Dee from Ring & Things, instead of Wild Things Beads, or is this their company as well?

Hi Floor,

It was fun to meet you!

Last year was the end of an era with the closure of the Tucson Grant Inn show, this year was the beginning of a new one, with all of the Grant show vendors added to the end of one of the Gem Mall pavilions. It was reportedly a pretty good year for everyone - it looks as if at least a partial economic recovery is beginning to take hold.

I am sure the bcn old timers are tired of these, but the new folks will enjoy the photos of the last Grant Inn show, 2011, with images of beads as well as some of my personal favorite bead characters. You know who you are!

Joyce,
A good friend has been doing the Rodeway/Grant Inn show in excess of twenty years. As you know the G&LW people sent out an email telling everyone that the show was not going to continue, well it did and because of what the G&LW did the traffic was way down (My friend said he did better than he thought he would). It is my understanding that there were legal actions taken regarding the email but I don't know this for sure.

As I am going to be selling at the Grant Inn this next Tucson show I figured I'd best let you all know that its still going on. Suzi and I will be in room 126 right next door to my friend. When the time gets closer I will post some of the things we will be taking in hopes of enticing some of you to come see us.

All my best ....... Danny

Yes, the same promoters that do the show at Howard Johnson took over the venue (convention center and motel rooms) since G & LW pulled out. There are noises of more plans for 2013 that sound pretty interesting. I will share those when I hear confirmation.

I am hoping to finish the book in May. It will be available for ordering (print on demand) online through Blurb, just like my book on Beads from Briare.
I do not make any money on these books, and I am looking into a way to be able to make it available as a free ebook as well.
