Thanks to Thomas for sending me the pdf of
issue 64 spring 2014 of the SBR newsletter!

Here's an excerpt from the announcement
from Barbara Pringle:

"On December 10, 2013, an enthusiastic
group of scholars and bead enthusiasts attended
the formal opening of Mightier than the Sword: The
Allure, Beauty and Enduring Power of Beads (Figure
1). The exhibit features the two Timeline cases displaying
beads from 3,000 to 800 BCE (Figures 2
and 3), along with displays showing recent related
anthropological and archaeological research by
Yale graduate students and faculty.

The exhibit will be up indefinitely. It is hoped
that, in future, additional Timeline panels can be
added, with relevant archaeological or anthropological
research featured to enhance them. Potential visitors
and researchers should contact the Education Office
of the Peabody Museum at 203-432-3775 or Peabody.
education@yale.edu."

This is wonderful news. Hopefully 2014 will be a great year
for the permanent display of collections from the 2 bead museums
in the U.S. that had to close - next due for permanently relocated
public exhibit is The Bead Museum collection at the Mengei in
San Diego.
