To me, these images seem to be SO ostentatious, such a caricature of what dressing up should be, that they seem like a Disney version of reality.
but people even here in UK always did overdo it dress-wise going to horse races...
now if only someone had worn those loaves of fossilized tree-resin on their head to the royal wedding here...
