Pic of what appear to be last-quarter-19th century? Japanese cloisonne beads combined with a red jade pendant featuring a squirrel and peaches.

As Frederick has noted in prior posts, the wirework in these small (12-13mm) beads is astonishingly fine. Most of us couldn't draw these patterns with a fine pen, let alone by bending hair-thin wires. Then coloring by stuffing pastes of ground glass into the holes, firing in a kiln, polishing with pieces of whetstones... Awesome, really.

I combined the Japanese beads with the similarly-sized koi and phoenix Chinese beads mentioned in a previous post, just for comparison purposes.
