These two red-brown mille-decorated cylinders were on a strand of old Venetian trade beads. They are about 13.5 mm long, and the holes have a nice layer of tan mandrel release. So I'm sure they are new - does anyone recognize them? Japanese?

Finding these on the strand is a disturbing new trend in that it's the second time in a few months that I have bought strands with old Venetian beads that contained a few new beads - both from African traders. I wish they would not do this but I think this may be a trend - possibly the real antiques are drying up and the traders are looking for beads to bulk up their market strands.
