Thank you for the interesting post, wish I knew more about this area! Here is a cute critter belonging to my friend Margo. She bought him in the 1970s from a woman who said she bought him in the 1940s, in Mexico - he's 18mm x 50mm and very wearable. Sorry for the crummy photos, it's hard to convey how neat he is. I wore him to the "Art of the Americas" show in our area in Feb. this year and others also thought he is quite possibly Pre-Columbian. But who knows? Your thoughts are appreciated!
