Typically, the name pony bead refers to larger beads, 5 to 8mm or so. It usually refers to beads larger than "E" beads. "Crow" beads and "Pony" are sometimes considered the same. These names are not terribly exact. I would call the beads used large seed beads. The cowrie shells look like Pacific cowrie, as in from the Philippines rather than ones from Africa.
