Original Message:   Jablonec 2012: trip report
I spent a lovely 2 weeks in Jablonec Nad Nisou in the Cezch Republic. It was my third visit to this capital of Czech beadmaking. Last year I gathered a lot of information for writing a book on beads from Jablonec. Well, a lack of time got in the way, including due to making another trip and book on beads from Tucson. I hope to finish the Tucson book within weeks (technical stuff to sort out) and the Jablonec book this year.

Jablonec is a great holiday destination on it's own, but it's the beads that make it so special. You can sense the history of beadmaking all around you. You can find stray beads or pieces of cane in the ground, bead shops are stll quite abundant (though more and more are selling Chinese beads) and there are plenty of people with stories about beads and glass.

One of my previous posts on my 2011 trip can be found through the link.

In 2010, the image on this wall was from the seed bead manufacturer in Zasada. In 2011, it was under construction. And in 2012.....? Have a look at the next post.
