I recollect some Yugoslavian (?) archaeological group restoring the colors of decomposed glass beads with JADE polyvinylacetate - a non-toxic whitish glue that bookbinders use for conservation purposes, sort of like a casein glue for wood but without being susceptible to bacterial attack. Dries translucent. Supposedly reversible in water - i.e., one can soak it out if need be.
