Original Message:   managing bead collection, Database system may be interesting?
this just might be useful for you: over 10 yrs ago, some seasoned collectors who participated in an online bead discussion forum that i co-moderate called Beads/L (see B/L listed in Links) created an interactive online bead database with the aim of recording items in our collections, and it was accessible by all members, whether specialists, researchers or relative beginners. After some years it stopped being accessible because there were problems with hosting the site. However -recently we have been able to retrieve most of the entries and it could be available to download as a PDF for personal use. i have to say that the accuracy of the details entered about the beads is often limited because we accepted what information people contributed and it wasnt possible at the time to check the entries, but it remains a record of a number of bead collections, and you can see the cataloguing categories that we considered essential about each bead. We are not going to publish it as such because there may be copyright issues. i will follow this message with another carrying the link and instructions if you want to download it. What it does not give is prices or values, which in my opinion entirely depend on the current market anyway.
