I'm sure you must get bored to death identifying beads all the time but would someone tell my 8 year old daughter what her beads are . I asked a very nice man and he said they are less than 10 years old and Chinese made . My daughter insists its a "fish worm thing " that lives in a fire underground and when the fire goes out it wriggle to the surface looking for the sun. When she's asked what the fishworms like to eat she says. They only eat tears ! I think she got this notion from having a temperature and reading about beads and confusing bits she's read with maybe a dream she had while unwell and its now stuck firmly in her mind . So in effect we have a bead that is treated almost like a pet or a family member and as she isn't allowed to have it at school she expects me to wear it until she's home. And no offence to the bead and its design but I don't want that heavy big thing round my neck . I tried telling her that maybe the other thingsitems she picked up with it a lovely early 20th century copper gau with lovely little silver items etc were of more interest but she is more bothered about this bead and a huge half worn out silver metal ring with a huge stone that looks like it might be a dirty coloured tigers eye. Which I also don't want to wear in case you are wondering. her project at school is on this necklace and she would like to know its name and use and also what the other beads are made of and what they are copies of if you can spare the time I would be very grateful
