Danny, not taking the stone from the ring before ID might not give accurate results. There are such things as jadeite triplets and hollow cabochons that would be concealed by the mounting. In other words, if someone slaps this onto a refractometer, gets a jadeite reading, and eliminates calcite, some problems could still remain.
