Original Message: Perfect ancient beads... |
---|
Collectors often want their ancient beads to be clean and
in perfect condition. But, washing and repairing ancient beads
may be a mistake because it makes old beads look new. The Warring States bead on the right in Floor's post appears to be new also. But it is not a new bead. The problem is: Inexperienced AND advanced collectors become suspicious that excellent antique examples may be copies when old beads have little or no patina.
